What this app does

Threshold is a Shopify app that scans your storefront for accessibility issues against the WCAG 2.1 AA ruleset, helps you fix them with your approval, publishes an accessibility statement, and keeps a timestamped record of that work.

What we collect

• Your store's domain and plan — to run scans and enforce usage limits.
• Scan results of your public storefront — accessibility rule findings, including CSS selectors and short HTML snippets of the affected elements on your own pages.
• Product titles, types, and image URLs — read via the Shopify API to draft image alt text for your approval.
• An audit log — timestamped records of scans, approved fixes, and published statements. This log is the product: it documents your accessibility work.

What we do not collect

We store no personal data about your customers. We do not scan checkout or account pages, and we never read customer, order, or payment records — the app does not request those API permissions at all.

AI processing

To draft image alt text, we send the product's title and type — no images, and no customer data — to Anthropic's Claude API. Under Anthropic's commercial terms this data is not used to train their models. If Claude is unavailable, drafting may fall back to Google's Gemini API; on Google's free tier, those inputs may be used to improve Google's models. In both cases we send only product text, and drafts are applied to your store only after you approve them.

Data retention and deletion

Uninstalling the app deletes all stored data for your shop. We also honor Shopify's GDPR webhooks: shop data erasure requests are fulfilled automatically, and because we hold no customer personal data, customer data requests and redactions have nothing to return or erase by design.
